SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Mitt Romney is still feeling the heat for what he said at Saturday's debate.
Romney tried to bet rival Rick Perry $10,000 dollars on who was right about Romney’s health care history.
But Romney’s remarks now have some saying that the multi-millionaire is out of touch.
In fact, Romney’s attempted wager is being called the "bet heard round the campaign trail."
In headlines all around the country, Romney is catching gambling grief, especially with America's median household income below $50,000 dollars.
While it's not yet clear how bad this bet will be for Mitt Romney, it's hard not to be reminded about a campaign comment made by his father, the former governor of Michigan.
In a 1967 interview, George Romney said he originally supported the war in Vietnam because he had been brainwashed,
“You know, when I came back from Vietnam, I just had the greatest brainwashing that anybody
can get."
This comment may have helped cost George Romney the presidency.
And now, 44 years later, one blogger writes,
"Spontaneously betting a rival $10,000...is just the kind of inept and telling moment that sunk his old man's presidential campaign.
But Monday, Romney’s campaign downplayed the $10,000 wager and, according to the candidate's wife, Ann,
betting is not Mitt Romney's strong suit.
