SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Thursday morning, the name of officer Charles Skinner will be added to Utah's Law Enforcement Memorial.

Wednesday, his widow, Kaitlyn sat down for an exclusive interview with ABC 4.

She told us:

"He didn't just deserve this honor because of how he died but because of how he lived. Because he lived the example that a law enforcement officer should live."

Although Kaitlyn knows it will be tough emotionally, she’ll take pride in seeing her husband's name added to the memorial wall.

It’s a wall bearing the names of those who died in the line of duty.

Kaitlyn Skinner: "I am very proud of his name being placed on that wall tomorrow (Thursday) among all the other heroes in the state."

Skinner, a North Salt Lake officer, was critically injured in a high speed pursuit last November.

After several operations failed, his family took him off life support.

Kaitlyn: “There's not a day that goes by that we don't struggle with the fact that we no longer have Charlie.”

And when she says “we,” Kaitlyn is referring to twins, Emma and Zackary, who were born just weeks before Officer Skinner died.

Kaitlyn: "He was such an amazing father and he was such a great example of how to be a good man."

Thursday at 10 AM, the name of Officer Charlie Skinner will be added to the state’s law enforcement memorial.

It will be six months to the day that his family took him off life support.
