SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Remember that controversial list of suspected Utah illegal immigrants?
Well, Teresa Bassett - the mastermind behind it - was back in court Tuesday.
Bassett, it appears, wouldn't mind if I was added to the list of people she wants deported.
Here’s our initial exchange played out:
ABC 4: “Can we ask you why you are here today?”
Bassett: “Please go away.”
The last time we saw Bassett was in June.
Heavily disguised, she was sentenced to 250 hours of community service.
This was in response to her role in creating Utah's infamous immigrant list.
The list was sent to local law enforcement agencies and to various Utah media outlets.
Back then, Bassett took a moment to question my ancestry.
Specifically, she called me a,
"Stupid b------."
Now, six months later, the court confirmed that Bassett has performed her community service.
Emerging from court this time, Bassett offered this holiday season greeting to ABC 4,
"You better get away from me."
But we wondered, half a year later, if Bassett had any remorse about compiling the immigrant list:
"Do you regret what you did with the list?”
“Would you do it again?"
This former state worker refused to answer any more of our questions.
Including our final one,
"Do you have anything you want to say to me?"
When I asked that, Bassett simply raised her eyebrows.
