SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Move over Mark Shurtleff, Peter Corroon may be after the job you want.
Just one day after Utah's attorney general said he's interested in the presidency of the University of Utah, Salt Lake County's Mayor tells ABC 4 he may apply too.
Mayor Corroon told us that the university's headhunters contacted him.
And, yes, he's considering it.
And, yes, Corroon may apply too.
Tuesday, he told ABC 4,
“It would be a great job to have."
Salt Lake County's Mayor told us that the university expressed interest in him first,
"Somebody submitted my name to be considered as the president of the University of Utah. Something that obviously
would be a great honor."
Corroon says he got an email from the U's consulting firm, he expressed interest and has begun making some calls about it.
After all, Corroon's term as mayor ends in January, 2013.
He told ABC 4,
"Certainly, I am looking to my future and if an opportunity came up, that would be a decision I would have to make."
Corroon's comments come just one day after Attorney General Mark Shurtleff said he's interested in the U. job too.
So, ABC 4 couldn't resist asking:
"Who would be a better university president - you or Shurtleff?”
To which Corroon answered with a smile
“Oh, me for sure."”
Corroon says he has not yet submitted an application to the University of Utah.
But, if he does, it would likely be within the next few weeks.
