SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - The birthplace of former LDS President Gordon B. Hinckley is now up for sale. And it is quickly attracting a lot of interest. The home is at 840 East and 7th South in Salt Lake.

According to legend, President Hinckley was born in the front room of the 115 year old house. That, says realtor Babs Delay is a big selling point,

"As soon as we listed it, on one day, we had 700 hits on the virtual tour." But the very historic and spiritual nature of this house also leads, Delay says, to some interesting questions,

"How do you price a historic home and who would buy this kind of home? Should the State of Utah buy it because it is a historic place? Would the Mormon Church buy it because it's a historic place?"

Listed at 369,000 dollars, the house has more than history going for it. Recently renovated, it sits on a third of an acre in an up and coming neighborhood. In fact, Delay says, some people don't even mention President Hinckley but instead, their reaction is, "Wow, what a groovy house."

Now, the house has only been up for sale for only a few weeks. But given its history and its quality, it isn't expected to be on the market for long.

Hmmff - It was surely surprising to have them be apathetic, but in all honesty, there are dozens, if not hundreds, of homes that different prophets have lived in, and the church simply cannot buy every single one of them and turn it into a museum. Their apathy makes sense only when you look at the sheer numbers.

I owned that house for 10 years. (96-06) ... I contacted the Mormon Church Property management, to offer them first right of refusal, before I put it on the market ... They couldn't have cared less ... I wasn't very impressed with they're apathy towards they're heritage ... Which they claim to care so much about.
