REVIEW:

Antonio Banderas is back as the voice of Puss In Boots in this prequel to the Shrek franchise. Joining him are the voice talents of Salma Hayek as his equal Kitty Softpaws and Zach Galifianakis as Humpty Dumpty.

The story revolves around Puss and Humpty, who grow up in an orphanage and get involved in several larcenous activitiies surrounding their quest for magic beans. Puss soon discovers it's better to be a hero, but when Humpty betrays Puss, the cat is forced int exile as thief. Years later, the two "brothers" are reunited as their paths take them to Jack and Jill (Billy Bob Thornton and Amy Sedaris), a hick couple who have the magic beans that will lead to the growth of a giant beanstalk, which leads to a castle in the clouds where a magic goose lays golden eggs.

Puss In Boots is a worthy addition to the Dreamworks Animation library, and compliments the Shrek franchise well. The quality of the computer-generated animation is top notch, with a look that is unique, separate from the Shrek films.

The script gets weak at times, but the fairy tale satire and cat culture gags keep the laughs coming through most of the movie.

Puss In Boots is a fun family treasure that just about anybody will enjoy.
