SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Utah gas prices are the fifth lowest in the nation even though they've shot up 48 cents in the past month.

AAA says Tuesday that the average price is $3.57 per gallon, up 16 cents over the same time last year.

The Ogden and St. George areas are tied for the state's cheapest gas with an average price of $3.53 per gallon. Salt Lake City gas is the highest in the state at $3.74 per gallon, after jumping 69 cents since Feb. 14.

Utah numbers are lower than the national average price of $3.81 per gallon.

Hawaii has the highest average price at $4.44 per gallon. The other states or territories with average prices topping $4 are California, Alaska, Illinois and the District of Columbia.
