SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - A proposed settlement in a class action lawsuit could result in a partial refund to Sketchers customers.
If you purchased Skechers’ Shape-ups, Resistance Runner, Shape-ups Toners/Trainers, or Tone-ups since August 1, 2008, a proposed settlement may affect you.
The class action lawsuit claimed Skechers violated consumer protection laws with the marketing of their shoes with unfounded claims.
The lines of shoes claimed they would help tone the body on their own. The FTC said, the unfounded claims were the shoes "would help people lose weight, and strengthen and tone their buttocks, legs and abdominal muscles."
The campaigns involved a number of celebrities talking about how well Shape-Ups work including Kim Kardashian, Brooke Burke, Joe Montana, and Utah Jazz legend Karl Malone.
