TODD GROSS: Two for the price of...
A double cold front comes through Thursday then again on Saturday. The first introduces cold air quick enough for snow in the mountains AND almost all benches early in the afternoon on Thursday followed by some Lake Effect snow. I'll be covering it.
The second cold front is cold enough for all snow in the valley (up and down the Wasatch front) on Saturday but does fly by quickly, again Lake Effect possible.
The Lake Effect, as usual, most pronounced in the area of North Salt Lake Bench, Bountiful Bench, Olympus Cove, South Mountain (higher level Draper), and other typical spots. It may reach into the canyons, such as Emigration Canyon, and of course Big and Little Cottonwood canyons, and across to Park City at times as well.
Accumulations at these mid and high terrains will likely be several inches from both storms, in fact, measuring over 10" (each front) perhaps high elevation areas such as Brighton (open for skiing), Solitude (open for skiing) , Alta (not yet) , and Snowbird (not yet)
