Kerry Kinsey: Utahn steps up to help victims of moose drugging accident
|
It’s one the wackiest stories I’ve covered in my career. A moose runs loose in Provo. The Division of Wildlife Resources comes out and shoots the moose with a tranquilizer. The moose collapses and falls on top of two cars. The damage to both vehicles is around $3,000.
An employee with the state at first tells both victims they’ll handle the cost of the repairs. But, then the state determines that they’re not at fault. Cassi Elton and Chris Hair both claim that the moose would've never landed on their cars if the animal had not been tranquilized.
Dave Adams of Adams G3 Collision Repair in Orem wanted to help. He called within a minute of our story airing Tuesday Night. I wasn’t even off the set when he dialed up our number.
Adams says,” We'll just bring the cars in, do the repairs for them, do it free and cut them loose. It's not a win-win for anybody I just wanted to rectify it and make it whole again.”
We caught up with Chris Hair and surprised him with the good news. Hair says,” Well that's great, thank you. What can I say, I’m speechless.”
Cassi Elton felt the same way about Adams jumping in and helping. He’s even offering to get a rental car for Chris and Cassi if they need it.
Wow, I was blown away by this level of generosity. That’s what makes Utahns so special; they always seem to rise to the occasion when people are in need.
By the way, the moose was released back into the wild
