SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - A recent Vogue article about one mother's attempt to control her 7-year-old daughter's diet is causing controversy and outrage.

The article, titled "Weight Watcher" chronicles socialite Dara-Lynn Weiss program to put her 7-year-old "obese" daughter Bea on a diet.

Some have called the article the "worst" parenting possible.

Part of the article tells of how Weiss deprived her daughter of some meals because of some food or snacks she ate during school.

Weiss said in the article, "I once reproachfully deprived Bea of her dinner after learning that her observation of French Heritage Day at school involved nearly 800 calories of Brie, filet mignon, baguette, and chocolate."

Social media users and bloggers have drawn even more attention to the article.

Weiss has even landed a book deal in the wake of all the attention she's getting.
