PROVO, UTAH (ABC 4 News) – Elijah Adair is only 4-years-old but he already knows what ABC 4 meteorologists are saying is true. It’s “summertime” hot. “The sun is really nice because it’s really hot.”

It is record breaking hot. Sunday dozens of records were set, and it’s likely not over yet. Monday’s heat sent people outside for a taste of summer, early. Suzanne Nimer says the temperatures inside her house were reason enough to take her book, and her kids to the park. “ We don’t have AC so it’s perfect outside.”

The water park in Provo is still more than a month away from opening, but today children clung to the fence around it wishing, as maintenance workers prepared for the season yet to come. Even grown-ups like Dani Kurt cast it a second glance. “It is so hot today I am wishing the water was on out there so we could go jump in.”

Still, most Utahns say they aren’t surprised by the weather. Kaylee Adair says enjoy it while it lasts because it won’t last long. “It’s springtime in Utah. You never know what you are going to get. It’s a surprise every day.”
