SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - An animated movie about alien bugs traveling through our solar system is set to premiere at Clark Planetarium Friday.
The movie, which took more than a year to create, is called “Perfect Little Planet.”
The animated film centers on a family from another star system in search of the perfect vacation spot, according to Production Supervisor David Merrell. The search leads them through our solar system, taking the viewer on spectacular views of space.
“You go by comets, by Pluto, Saturn and Jupiter, all the way in toward Earth,” Merrell said. “The perfect vacation spot is Earth for this family.”
The movie comes to life through special effects and showing the film at 60 frames per second, which means it plays on screen at almost double the speed of a regular film.
“The feeling of motion at 60 frames per second is incredible,” Merrell added.
“Perfect Little Planet” was created by Salt Lake animators and voiced by local talent.
The 35 minute film is set to premiere at the Hansen Dome Theater Friday, February 17, 2012.
