“Brave” is good animated feature. However when I talk about a film produced by Disney * Pixar, I think the standard needs to be higher. After all these are the folks that gave us “Toy Story,” “Finding Nemo,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Wall-E” and “Up.”
“Brave” needed to be a GREAT film, not just good.
The problem is we’ve seen all this before, the young princess who is angry she’s not getting the life she desires so she seeks extraordinary help (usually a witch or sorceress) to make the “problem” go away. But by doing that she has to live with the consequences of her actions.
“Brave” carries remnants of many Disney films like “The Little Mermaid,” “Brother Bear” and “The Princess and the Frog,” And so there’s not much here that’s sparklingly new.
However that doesn’t mean kids aren’t going to see it, it just means you’re not going to remember it for very long.
“Brave” gets a C and is rated PG.
