WEST JORDAN, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Local businesses and residents will hold a fundraiser on Saturday to help a young family who is now healing after their apartment caught on fire late last month.
Allix Thrall and her three-year-old son Luke were in their Herriman apartment on June 24 when it caught fire and sent them both to the University of Utah Hospital burn center in critical condition. Thirty percent of each of their bodies are covered in second- and third-degree burns, and they will each require skin grafts over the next few weeks.
Since the fire, family members have been working to raise funds to cover Allix and Luke's hospital bills, which are estimated to be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
With the help of donations from local businesses, the family is holding a fundraiser on Saturday, July 10 at the West Jordan Macey's on 7859 South 3200 West from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be food, entertainment, a bake sale, a yard sale and a raffle. The raffle will include items such as gift cards, a new grill, gift baskets and airline tickets.
The family has also set up an account at Wells Fargo for those who would like to donate money. You can go to any Wells Fargo and make your donation under the name of Allix and Luke Thrall.
If you would like to donate items to the yard sale, bake sale or raffle, please contact Janet at (801) 688-9644 or Mandy at (801) 878-9917.
