OGDEN, Utah (ABC 4 NEWS) - Nestled in the heart of Ogden is Union Station, the hub of the crossroads of the west. But, some say nestled in the foundation and walls of the historic building are spirits from the past. We took a deeper look with Insight Paranormal.
Union Station dates back to the 1860's and the current building has been there since 1923. It was built on top of the foundation of the old building which was destroyed in a fire. In the basement you can find the original vaults used to store gold and silver during the 1800's.
There have been several deaths in or around Union Station, some suicides, some murders and many as a result of a train collision in 1944. Diana Azevado, an employee of Union Station says, "Many of the injured and dead from the crash were treated and stored inside Union Station. It was used as a morgue during World War ll."
Azevado says that will very sudden deaths you find that the spirit stays where it died because they don't know that they are dead. There has been reported paranormal activity throughout the building including the basement, the second floor and the Browning Theater where the bodies of soldiers were stored.
Union Station workers and visitors report hearing music, footsteps, voices, seeing apparitions, smelling perfume and actually being pushed or restrained. Insight Paranormal brought in a lot of ghost hunting equipment and set traps for the trapped spirits.
Union Station is offering ghost tours starting and running through tomorrow night. All the money raised goes to support Union Station and its three museums. During our investigation a light stand was unexplainably moved while we were out of the room. Jeremy Spencer and his team of ghost hunters captured hours of video and audio recordings and will sift through them looking and listening for messages from beyond.
