ABC 4 offers a hands-on work opportunity that immerses college students into the ABC 4 (KTVX) news room. Interns are welcome to help gather, broadcast and publish daily news stories on television and the Internet as well as other support functions in the newsroom.

Interns would be responsible for assistance in finding news stories, making contacts with news sources, and to help reporters and producers deliver television and web content. Interns may also be required to assist the ABC 4 Sports team on evenings and weekends.

Interns should possess outstanding writing skills, should be familiar with AP print style, and have a working knowledge of broadcast journalism techniques, journalism law, and media ethics. Applicants should also have a basic understanding of general news topics including politics, history, geography, and current events. A general knowledge of web-based software, Photoshop, HTML video editing and other multi-media skills is helpful as well.

Interns may be required to work a variety of shifts, but are generally needed in the evenings, nights, and weekends.

Interns would be required to work approximately 15-20 hours a week.

Interns should present themselves in a professional manner, be able to work fast and meet deadlines, and possess interpersonal skills required to work well within a team.

After being accepted and trained, interns can than work with the internship coordinator to customize their schedule and emphasis over the course of the internship.
