Hi everyone,
I just had to write a quick thank you to all of our sweet viewers who took the time to help me out the other day. My sweet 4 month old and I have been passing Thrush back and forth:(. For those of you who know anything about Thrush know that it is wicked. I was desperate for some answers late the other night. I know a common cure is to take Diflucan. Diflucan has been known to be hard on your liver. I'm someone who has struggled with yeast for years and I was hoping to find another way to treat it. I decided to jump on our Good Things Utah Facebook page and ask all of you Professional mommy's out there. Here is what I wrote...

GTU viewers I needed your help. I have a mommy question for all of you... Have any of you tackled thrush in both you and the baby without taking Diflucan? If so, what has worked for you? Thanks so much, any advice is appreciated. -Bree

Within five minutes there were twenty different women giving me their great advice. When I woke up in the morning I was astonished to see that 84 busy women took time out of their day to help me out. There was so many great things written. I want to share a few with you...

Nanette Storey Gentian Violet. You can buy it online. Some pharmacies carry it but call ahead to make sure.

Stephanie Kunz Kelsch There is some stuff called baby life that I used. I got it at Daves nutrition, you mix it with water to make a paste and put it on you. It worked like a charm!

Heather McWilliams Ward Nystatin worked for me and baby. My dr also said to air yourself out, as in don't wear a bra or a shirt for a few hours... At home of course. Good luck it's painful for mamma!

Linda Clark Isom Eliminate yeast in your diets till it clears up because thrush is yeast. I have the nystatin powder for my son's diaper area and the liquid for internal thrush. Gargling with hydrogen peroxide helps a lot too. Pound the acidophilus, and probiotics. You can a probiotic to your baby's bottle or cereal. Good luck, it's nasty stuff to deal with.

Here is what I learned from all of your posts,

1. Probioitics are very important for both the baby and myself.
2. Nystatin cream is great and the baby can use the oral Nistatin that is prescribed by your doctor. (anti-fungal antibiotic)
3. Gentian Violet is an easy way to eliminate the yeast. It will stain everything purple that it touches.
4. Gentian Violet is controversial because it has been known to cause Cancer in rats.
5. Essential Oils could really help us out. (I'm going to look into those for sure).

It is so important to me to do my research. I can't thank you each enough for your help! I promise this will not be the last question I post to you mommy's out there. I am doing all I can to kick this yucky Thrush. Thanks again GTU viewers:).  Bree
