Jay Deher with Prudential Real Estate says there are common mistakes people make when they're trying to sell their home.

He has advice of what not to do.

Deher says don't have too many family photos on the wall or sitting around the home.  Put those away.  You want perspective buyers to picture their family in the home, not yours.

Also, Deher says to make sure your home is clean and free of clutter.  And, make sure it smells nice.

Deher also says you should not be at home when you know people are coming to look at your house.  He says it's a common mistake for people to to stick around, and that can be awkward for the potential buyers.  Also, make sure your pets are not at home.

Deher is at Prudential Utah Real Estate (801) 472-8800.  You can also visit his website for more information: http://www.jaydeher.com.
