The 2013 Sundance Film Festival is next month, January 17th-27th. We are joined by Nell from the Sundance Film Festival's merchandise store, she is here not to talk about the films, or the celebrities... but another big part of "doing Sundance" the collectible merchandise.
Nell says, "We have an exciting line this year. We partnered with the designer Todd Oldham who worked with us on repurpose and recycle items. Taking our banners from last year and creating items. He also worked on our special book featuring Sundance with 27 wonderwonderful illustrations" Nicea pointed out, "Todd Oldham is a big darn deal how did Sundance get him to design for them" Nell says, "He is a fan of story telling and independent artists and we are thrilled to have him be part of Sundance this year."
This years line is colorful, very graphic and striking. Every year the designs change and we were excited to see what the new line would look and feel like. One of the funnest new items was a little red onesie with graphic arrows featuring all the different categories Sundance has like The New Frontier. Another favorite item is the Sundance A to Z children's book, for kids of all ages, basically designed for anybody who is a fan of Sundance or film. Designed like a children's book, but all about the Sundance Film Festival.
Other items feature the arrows in the shape of a snowflake. The arrows represent all the directional signs found at the ski resorts, Todd Oldham said something wonderful about all walks of life are represented at Sundance and people come from all around the world, so the multiple arrows represent this ideal also.
With the banners from last year, Oldham designed iPad sleeves, pencil cases, card envelopes, bags, totes, they have everything covered. Lot's of clothing choices for fans of all ages also. Our favorite was a grey unisex sweat shirt, very luscious and cozy, felt like jammies.
