Sean Foote with Sean Foote Construction has tips to prevent frozen pipes.
He says he's been busy with calls from people who have had frozen pipes or who have had pipes burst.
If your pipes burst, find your shut-off valve in the basement and turn the water off. Once you do that go to your lowest plumbing point and turn on the water to flush it all into the drain.
There are some simple things you can do to prevent that. If plumbing is in cold areas you can buy pipe wrap at any home improvement store and wrap the pipes to protect them.
If any pipes are near the combustion air intake, they can freeze. So you either need to wrap them or have a plumber move them to a warmer location.
And, make sure you disconnect your hose outside. That can also cause pipes to burst.
