PARK CITY, UTAH (July 31, 2012) — Eleven of the world's most elegant and artfully-constructed homes will be on display in the 2012 Park City Area Showcase of Homes. Among them will be 2381 Lucky John Drive, a modern contemporary four-bedroom home that achieves true harmony with nature and the environment.
The home, designed by Scott Jaffa of Jaffa Group Architects, is LEED-certified, and features triple-glazed windows; south-facing solar panels that heat the floors, water, and home; 6kw photo voltaic panels provide electricity and can power 300, 100-watt light bulbs at one time; a unique drainage plane; exterior rigid insulation; and steel sunshades.
"This home is as green as can be," Jaffa said. "But we didn't just minimize its carbon footprint. We made sure it achieved balance with its surroundings, too."
The house sits on a 1.25-acre lot with breathtaking views of the Wasatch Mountains, and grounds that have been expertly hardscaped and landscaped. There is a private front entry court that creates a sense of arrival, and the rear courtyard includes an entertainment area with a fire pit and enormous backyard.
"We wanted to inspire a true sense of 'home,'" Jaffa said. "This house, like any house, should be a place to enjoy quality family time, host celebrations, and simply be comfortable no matter what you're doing or whom you're with."
The Park City Area Showcase of Homes takes place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 18 and 19, Aug. 25 and 26, and Sept. 1 and 3. Tickets cost $15 and include the showcase's annual magazine, plus a map to the participating houses. Discounted tickets can be bought on the showcase's website, http://www.pcshowcaseofhomes.com
