Becky McInnis, a Certified Nurse Midwife, opened The Birth Center because she believes that having a natural birth in a birth center empowers women and bonds families. She feels honored to be present when a family chooses this option. Becky and Angie sat down to discuss options and the safety of natural childbirth.
The Birth Center is the Premier Midwifery practice in the Intermountain West offering water births, natural births, and gentle birth choices in a free standing birth center. They offer women’s and infant’s health care in an informing and empowering atmosphere. They have knowledge of and respect for alternative health care choices.
A Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) is a Registered Nurse who has completed advanced schooling and licensed in Gynecology and Obstetrics. Obtaining advanced medical training in Certified Nurse Midwifery allows this individual to care for women throughout their lifespan, take care of children up to one year, and perform primary care functions. This national license is granted by the American Midwifery Certification Board, and the CNM is also licensed by the state(s) in which he/she practices. Nurse Midwives may choose to practice in hospitals, birthing centers or the home setting. CNM’s are recognized by the American Medical Association as care providers and have prescriptive privilege.
