Created and demonstrated by Jessical Powell, Vintage Paint Works

Create your own lovely cards from remeniscent of days gone by using good, old-fashioned milk paints, copies of old-photos and pretty papers!

Materials

  • 1 sheet 8.5 x 11 inch ivory cardstock

  • watercolors, 1-2 colors Vintage Milk Paint

  • paint sealer (such as Mona Lisa medium)

  • paper towels

  • vintage images and printed background papers

  • white glue

  • double stick tape

  • bamboo paint brush

  • paper trimmer

  • bone folder

  • multidimensional embellishments (optional)

Instructions

  1. Select vintage images, printed background papers, and coordinating paint colors. Create the card's body by cutting the cardstock in half. Fold one of the pieces to create a blank notecard and score with bone folder. Cut the other panel in half again to make the card front.
  2. Create a perfect card front with a Vintage Milk Paint and watercolor underwash: Apply a coat of watercolor paint to a 4.25 x 5.5 inch piece of cardstock. Once the paint is dry, add a coat of Vintage Milk Paint. Make sure to blot Vintage Milk Paint with a paper towel in order to add dimension.
  3. Layer printed background papers and vintage images on the card front. Adhere with white glue.
  4. Mix the second color Vintage Milk Paint; apply a light wash. Seal the card front and then add any multidimensional embellishments.
  5. Attach the card front to the blank notecard with double stick tape.
