Handy Gal Tips - Patriotic Decor

Here are some great things you can do to spruce up your house a bit and give it a patriotic feel!

Cushy Tushy
Cover your standard seat cushions for the holiday
You will need:
    1 red hankerchief
    1 blue hankerchief
    4 rubber bands
    4 pieces of white ribbon
    1 seat cushion
Steps:
    lay blue hankerchief down
    lay cushion in center of hankerchief
    place red hankerchief on top
    band each corner together with rubber bands
    tie white ribbon bows on top of rubber bands

Star Spangled Cups
Festive way to not only decorate your plastic cups for the holiday, but also mark them for each guest
You will need:
1 full sheet white contact paper (or more for additional stars)
1 red or blue Sharpie or permanent marker
scissors
Steps:
draw either by hand or via a computer stars on the contact paper
cut out stars and place on clear plastic cups
when each guest arrives, they can use the markers to label their cups

Patriotic Plastic Silverware Roll
Great way to bundle up the plastic wear for your BBQ
You will need: (for each setting)
cardstock strip 1in x 4in
scotch tape
5 peppermint starlight mints
5 gold stars
5 glue dots
red plastic ware set
blue paper napkin
Steps:
lay plastic ware diagonally on napkin
fold up bottom of napkin (to help prevent plastic ware from slipping out)
wrap one side tightly around plastic ware, then wrap other side
wrap cardstock strip tightly around whole bundle and tape closed
use glue dots to attach Starlight mints around band
glue a gold star on each mint

Red Rockin' Blueberry Sparkler drink
Refreshing BBQ drink
You will need:
blueberries
mini marshmallows
kabob skewers
red fruit punch and ice trays
Sprite
Steps:
plop red fruit punch ice cubes in a glass
fill with Sprite
skewer 3 blueberries with mini-marshmallows in between and drop in glass
