Katilin Paxton is Utah's Most Distinguished Young Woman and she came by to talk about the program.
ABOUT KATILIN:
Kaitlin is from Davis County residing in Bountiful, Utah with her parents, Bob and Michelle Paxton. She is the sterling scholar of Woods Cross High School for dance and also the regional winner. She has participated in High School Musical 3 as a background dancer and teaches piano and dance to children.
She is dance company president, has participated in cheerleading for 4 years in high school, is in National Honor Society, a tutor and has participated in many clubs at Wood Cross High School. She has won the University of Utah leadership scholarship and participated in the business program leadership at the U. She has received her high school's spirit award and was outstanding student 4 times.
She has danced in Ballet West's Nutcracker 4 years, and her community service has been to volunteer for the Cancer Wellness House as well as donate her time to the Cancer run and feeding at the homeless shelter.
She graduated with honors from Woods Cross June 1st.

Distinguished Young Women is a national scholarship program that inspires high school girls to develop their full, individual potential through a fun, transformative experience that culminates in a celebratory showcase of their accomplishments.

Be Your Best Self program is a national outreach program aimed at influencing young people.
The five elements of the BYBS program are at the heart of the Distinguished Young Women philosophy, and the program helps to instill those values in others. Be healthy, be involved, be
studious, be ambitious, and be responsible are the five elements that help define what it truly means to Be Your Best Self. In spreading the BYBS message to young people, we encourage
them to choose to personally implement it into their own lives.
