Designer Annette Ward shows us how to make puff balls out of coffee filters.
You’ll need:
Lots of coffee filters - (I used white and tea dyed them).
Styrofoam ball (5”- small, 6”- medium, 8”- large, 10”- extra large all work well. Choose the size that you’d like).
Pins – I like to use extra long or T-pins to hold the coffee filters in place better.
Tea bags (to stain the coffee filters if you’d like an antique look).
Ribbon to hang at top of ball -(you may need to glue)
1. Tea dye coffee filters and wait to dry. (Skip this step if you want to leave your coffee filters white).
2. Stack coffee filters in layers of two. Using your index finger, press in the center of the filters to form a “flower” and pinch at bottom.
3. Insert a pin at the bottom of the filters (where you pinched them together) and push in the Styrofoam ball.
4. Continue around the entire ball until it is all filled and you can’t see any open spaces. (I prefer a really full look).
5. Place ribbon into the top with pins. (You may also need a dab of glue on the ribbon to keep in place).d some glue to hold the ribbon in place).
You can also turn your coffee filter balls into a topiary by placing a dowel in the center and placing in a planter or container. Be creative and have fun creating your coffee filter balls!
