Michael Bingham is an artist, designer, and creativity consultant and he came on to talk about some ways we can supercharge our kids' creativity.

Sometimes it's a Good Thing to try things in a different way. What if, instead of try to do your best, you tried to do your worst? This is a great exercise to really get your mind into an imaginative place. We are going to do the opposite of normal.  What if we instead did our worst?

Michael says this is a great activity to get those creative juices flowing.

1. Round up as many crayons, markers, pens, color pencils and anything else you can find that will make a mark.

2. On a vertical 11x17 piece of paper, I want you and your kids to create the worst self portrait ever created in the history of art.  (Most people are very confident in their ability to make really bad art,  I want you to show me just how bad it can be. I tell my students "The worst it is the higher the grade")

Rules:
A. You must keep drawing with hand moving for 15 minutes without stopping.

B. You must fill the paper. Do a head and shoulders drawing with the face at least the size of an adult hand.

C. Be creative!  Have fun! Use any method you can to make this drawing "The worst art ever".

Interesting and unique things can happen when you let your imagination try something unexpected.
