While out on a story about the tragic and deadly shooting that happened last week in Ogden - I went up to the front door of suspected shooter Matthew David Stewart's home. What I saw was chilling.
The glass screen door had four or five bullet holes and the glass was shattered. The thick wood door had a pattern of bullet holes. The center right side of the door had three bullet holes. The upper left side had two holes. Another bullet hole was right above the door and the biggest hole came from a bullet that hit the edge of the wood and door window. About a one square inch piece of wood was gone and the window had hole in it.
I was amazed and at the same time a little bit of fear ran through my body. The house is empty and boarded up and yet it felt like someone could still be inside or maybe it was due to the fact that I knew someone died here and others, no doubt, thought they were going to die as they were shot - sometimes more than once - by a 9mm semi-automatic weapon.
I don't with to re-hash the shooting, but I want to salute those men who involved in that awful gun battle. And I pray that the family of Agent Jared Francom will find peace someday.
