West Jordan, Ut (ABC 4 News) It all started with some lessons about the weather. Today it's full blown weekly news production that is shown in every classroom of Westvale Elementary.

Teachers Andy Roberts and Vickie Daniels came up with the idea to incorporate writing, reading, weather forecasting and producing a newscast into the student's curriculum. Principal Becky Gerber gave them the thumbs up and now the project is the talk of the school. Roberts says it has turned out better than he had even imagined with kids "who didn't read before" now "going home and reading on their own without being asked." And the students are having a lot of fun with the project as well.
