The NFL playoffs are set. But it's hard to get excited when a team with a losing record is in this year.
The league says all division winners qualify for the playoffs. I'm sure they assumed that all division winners would have winning records. How else could you be a division winner? Well, ask the Seattle Seahawks.
The Seahawks became the first time in history to make the postseason with a losing record. How proud they must be! There's something to be said for peaking at the right time, but at 7-9, it doesn't appear there was any peaking at any time for that team.
A couple of teams with 10-6 records-the Giants and the Buccaneers-will be sitting home, watching the playoffs on TV with the rest of us. Doesn't seem right, does it? The league needs to re-evaluate things, and make sure the best teams get into the playoffs. That's what the regular season is for, to determine the best teams. A team with a losing record does not deserve to be in the playoffs.
