The Utah Jazz announced that GM Kevin O'Connor signed a multi-year contract extension, and that Jerry Sloan will definately be back for the 2010-2011 season. Both are good moves.
I was in a store on Wednesday and the guy behind the counter recognized me and wanted to talk sports. He asked me if I thought it was time for Sloan to go. I said not only "no", but "heck no!!!". Coach Sloan is still one of the best coaches in the NBA. People complain that he is too "old school". I don't think so. He still knows how to win, and how to play hard and how to coach. If the players would just do what he said all the time, things would be a lot better in Jazz-land. Sometimes they think they know best. They don't.
And having O'Connor back is huge. He's a very valuable asset to the team, even if fans don't always realize what he's done. He has pulled off some key trades and landed some big free agents, and has kept a cool demeanor in the process. He wants one thing-success for the Jazz, and he doesn't let ego get in the way of that.
Having O'Connor and Sloan back with the team is a good thing. Trust me.
