Just a quick disclaimer to start with...this is not so much a blog as it is an open letter to my bosses. I just want them to know I'm a team player...
There are several sporting events coming up that need to be covered, and I am throwing my hat in the ring to cover them. Despite my busy schedule and the multitude of demands on my time, I'm volunteering to cover these events for the station. Hey, I'm a good guy...what can I say?
The World Series is going on. I should probably be there. I've never been to a World Series game, and there's no better time than now to end that streak than now.
The NFL season is in full swing. There are several local players on teams this year. I should go catch up with them to see how they're doing. And to show you what a good guy I really am, I won't even hog all the trips here. If Dana and Emerson want to go cover some of the guys, I will gladly let them go to some of the games....like the ones in Minnesota, Buffalo, Detroit, Cleveland. I'm telling you, I'm nothing if not big-hearted.
BYU wil be playing Hawai'i in early December. Someone should be there...why not me? I've been to Hawai'i, I know my way around, I've covered BYU...it just seems like a natural.
Even better...I mean, more important, is the Utah basketball trip to the Bahamas. It's a new team with new players and a new head coach. We should be there to see how they're doing and how they're getting along. Plus we have the Red Zone, and what better way to fill the show than to have reports detailing the trip? Heck, I don't even need to go to the games, so the station could save money. I'll just hang out at the beach or the hotel pool and get a sense of how they're doing and how they're getting along.
If you agree with me, call or e-mail the station. They should know that you the veiwer want to see me at the beach...I mean covering our teams. (Oops, I wonder if that part will get printed?). I can pack on a moments notice, and I promise to bring the bosses a T-shirt from the islands...I mean the game (Dang it!). And any tan I may get will just make me look better on the air, and save them money on make-up, right? This is such a good idea...
