Wesley Ruff - Helping the MDA

This year's MDA Labor Day Telethon was different than any I have been associated with in the past. For starters, it wasn't on Labor Day. It was Sunday night from 6:00 to midnight. It was not held at a mall or a hotel like it has been in the past. It was held right here at our station. And there was no Jerry Lewis.
But despite all the changes, things went well. The people of Utah were very giving (as per usual) and everyone involved was great. Working with Barb Smith and Marti Skold is awesome. They truly care about the kids and you can feel the passion they have. They are great to work with. So are Bryan and Dan and the entire crew here at the station. They put in countless hours behind the scenes to make sure the telethon is as good production-wise as it can be. They are true prosfessionals. And the 2 Erins from MDA were great as well. They make our job easier.
I missed the interaction with people that we used to get at the mall. I liked the way the excitement would build as we came closer to the end of the telethons, and I really missed talking to people who would stop by to say hi. But once we got into a rythym, this year's telethon seemed to work out pretty well.
And having Labor Day off was not a bad thing! It's the first one I've had off in 30 years! The lake was awesome...
