Ok.

Anyone who knows me knows I am not necessarily a pollyannaish, “my uncle has a barn,” little ray of sunshine kind of guy.

In fact, my perpetually gloom and doom kind of personality more closely resembles Eeyore from Winnie-the-Pooh.

But the fact is, this is going to be a very positive, somewhat giddy, almost gushing type of blog.

The simple truth is: I really like our new anchor team of Brent Hunsaker and Kylie Conway.

Let’s start with Brent.

Mr. Hunsaker and I have worked together pretty much since the time TV was invented (although I believe he is slightly older).

I have seen Brent anchor, report, shoot video, edit and pretty much do everything that can be done in a newsroom.

He is smart, hardworking and passionate about news.

Over the years, he has advised me on stories and vice-versa.

In case you hadn’t noticed, I am a big Brent Hunsaker fan.

He has earned this new assignment and earned it the old fashioned way.

The only thing which troubles me about Brent’s new job is that I will miss his reports from the field.

And then there’s Kylie Conway.

Here are three things you need to know about Kylie.

1) About the nicest person you will ever want to meet.

2) Looks a lot like Audrey Hepburn.

3) GIRL CAN COOK!

Seriously.

Ms. Conway is a foodie.

Once, when I was feeling a little under the weather, she brought me some soup.

The first bite alone was nearly enough to revive me.

(It is now awaiting FDA approval)

Like me, Kylie comes from the Midwest, America’s heartland.

You can see it in her work ethic and the honest way she carries herself and treats others.

She’s a keeper.

As far as I am concerned, the members of our new anchor team are the real deal.

I really like them and think you will too.

And now, I will go back to being my usual, curmudgeonly self.

If you will be kind enough to excuse me, I have to go help the Grinch steal Christmas.

Bah, humbug,

I can find no where else to post a comment about a news report so you are it. On Sunday Dec 11 evening news there was a story about a pedestrian that was in critical condition because she had been hit by a car. The newsperson said that she was wearing dark clothing like it was her own fault that she had been hit. What about asking if the idiot driver was texting or talking on a cell phone when they hit this person. A couple of days ago some woman hit a man in a wheelchair in broad daylight and he was in the crosswalk. I wonder if he was wearing dark clothing so you could blame it on the victim. I am insulted that a professional news person would mitigate a driver's blame by blaming the victim.
