You make my point beautifully! If the officer does his job everyone is equally checked. IF NOT the situation you have set up is an example of how convoluted this can get. EVERYONE has a whine or reason or some point in histor to be exempt. Pointing your finger at other law breakers and saying that you should be able to do the same thing...IS WRONG! GET OVER IT! ====If your ex is here illegally you have the moral obligation to turn her in...if you can't bring yourself to do it then... hope she gets caught and put out or put in jail. I'll give you a perfect example of how racist this is and how it profiles individuals. My ex-wife isn't a citizen, refuses to become one and has lived in Utah most of her life. Only thing is, she is white, Mormon and British. Do you think a cop is going to ask for proof of her citizenship during a traffic stop? Until Americans stop working for the oil industry in Canada because it pays more, this issue is hypocritical. Until American businesses stop outsourcing to other countries for cheap labor, this issue is hypocritical. Many industries in the Southwest (even Utah) have relied on migrant workers since these industries have been here. Just because migrant somehow was changed to illegal doesn't change the fact that the government has supported this kind of labor for generations. I think it's safe to say that more than 99.9% of these "illegal" people are just normal every day individuals looking for a better life and don't do anything wrong other than being "illegal". All they do is take the crap jobs that uptight Americans refuse to do because they think it's beneath them. If they were all kicked out tomorrow, the whining Bubba's here would wonder why the fast food restaurants closed down and someone didn't mow the lawn in the apartment complex. All the politicians would wonder why their offices weren't cleaned overnight. Unless you are Native American chances are someone in your family tree came here as an illegal immigrant, mine came to Utah from Scandinavia to work in the coal mines over 100 years ago. This issue is racist and xenophobic. The government should be doing everything to somehow legalize them so they can stay, feel welcome and earn a legitimate living. Remember, Utah was still a part of Mexico long after it was settled by white pioneers. Just because it became Utah doesn't mean all the Mexicans should disappear.

STOP! With people like SLC police chief not enforcing the law... WHAT GOOD IS ANOTHER LAW. The real problem is people like Burbank! This is against his oath of office and obvious and he should be kicked out of office. BUT HOW? I question his recent trip to Washington to represent all of Utah on national news. ???? Where did the funds come from for this trip? AND IF PUBLIC FUNDS...WHO approved this miss use of funds??? Under no interpretation of training, prisoner transfer or other lame excuse--- Are public funds used for expression of ones own political agenda or communication. That is a crime and should be prosecuted. Also the one who approved it. IF it was approved. If he used his own funds then he represented himself and not SLC. So he should not have worn the SLC uniform which would be the miss use of public property while on private business. Please someone check this out and show the world what he may be ILLEGAL! If convicted can he hold office??? This is the legal way to get rid of this clown the supports law breaking illegals.
