"Noah we got a bite from Salt Lake City," my agent said over the phone. I asked, "Which station?" He said, "KTVX."
I had no idea how much the simple conversation would change my life. My agent had called me about a dozen times before with other possibilities. Many led to interviews, some serious, but nothing felt right until I talked with ABC 4 News Director Pat Livingston.
You see, ABC 4 is not just a job for me it's a ticket to report in a place I really want to be. My top two choices were Kansas City, Missouri where I grew up or Utah.
I fell in love with Utah as a BYU student. I remember walking to campus in the early morning hours and looking east to marvel at the beautiful mountains almost hovering over campus. I also remembered the quality of my friendships in Utah, my amazing professors and the natives who live in Provo. There is probably no other place in the world like Provo (if you live in Utah you know what I mean). It's a nice place.
These were all thoughts racing through my head on the day of decision. Two offers came in. One from a great station in western Michigan and one from ABC 4 in Salt Lake City. The decision was easy. Utah all the way!
I eventually said my good-byes to friends in Illinois, Kentucky and Missouri then stepped onto a plane bound for Utah. The trip would change my life, probably forever. It's good to be back!
