Should you talk to your kids about Gardner's upcoming execution? It's such an interesting question. My kids are little, probably much too little to understand a whole lot about what's happening tonight. But they hear and watch the news, and I want them to be aware of rules/laws and consequences, in a way that they can comprehend.
As a mom I always think less is more. That being said, I have to work hard on practicing what I preach! (I often tend to get into discussions that are way too long about why we don't hit our friends!) I like to explain the facts of a big issue and then let them ask questions, knowing that many details don't need to be discussed. Most of all, I would rather my kids hear about things like this from me, and not from the playground.
