It was an enchanted evening as over one hundred prince and princesses became royalty for a night.  There were ball gowns, crowns, wands and swords.  The setting was perfect, the Castle in Layton, the royal walkway and bridge leading into the event, a string orchestra, trumpets sounded to each arrival and the jesters entertained while makeup artists created pretty princess faces.  The event was the Royal Ball for Hopekids.  It is an organization that gives hope to hundreds of local families who have children that are fighting cancer or life threatening diseases. The entire event was created by Cinderella also known as Linsey Holley who plays Cinderella at parties for childen and for her birthday, she decided to share with others by having a Royal Ball for these kids.
The room was filled with smiles from the kids with cancer and other diseases to the queens and kings (their moms and dads).  Don Hudson and I announced each prince and princess and their royal court (their families) to the king, queen and princess of the night.  I saw such joy in that room. It was a night to forget about the cancer and the treatments and the daily fight that each of these families face. I saw little girls in wheelchairs beaming because they had on a princess dress, pretty makeup, a crown and a wand in hand.  I saw little boys who for a night felt like they were knighted into a magic kingdom and for that night their walkers or wheelchairs were simply a royal mode of transportation.
Hopekids is an incredible organization started up by Amy and CR Oldham who lost their little girl years ago.  Their fight is now for other kids to have happy lives and for each child and their family to enjoy events that put smiles on their faces as often as possible. Hopekids is having their annual fundraiser to keep events like this going.  It will be on May 22 at the station at the Gateway.  Tickets are still available and each one will make a childs fight against cancer or other diseases just a little easier.  I hope you can join us that night as I emcee the event.  For more information go to www.hopekids.org and look under events.

Hopekids is AMAZING, It came to Utah just at the right time for our family, Aliyah had just had 15 surgeries in 18 months and our family was worn out and feeling not so hopeful about the future. We felt alone and didn't know how we were going to keep going through all of this.. Then like a knight in shining armor Hopekids came to Utah and has changed our lives forever, We as a family have things to look forward to and we get to be with other families that get it. At a Hopekids events Feeding tubes and masks don't get you strange looks and our Aliyah doesn't feel like she is not normal because in the Hopekids world she is normal and she gets treated that way. It means so much to me as a mom to not have her feel different or out of place. Hopekids has given her a place to belong. Hopekids if not just an organization it is a Family.. We love our Hopekids family and all the wonderful people that help in anyway to bring smiles to these sweet face Thank you all soooooo Much.. Amy Peedle
