A national website
www.speedtrap.org lists Sandy and Salt Lake City as having the most speed traps in Utah. It's a website that makes drivers aware of speed traps in cities. They rely on drivers to post a spot and add comments. I frankly don't view it as a speed trap. I drive through Sandy all the time and have come to know where police will be. I slow down in those spots and get back to my "comfortable" but safe speed after I pass them. And most drivers do just that.
But living near a busy street in Sandy I've come to see why police have their radar guns in trouble spots. Cars jet down 11400 South in Sandy near 1000 East. If a driver sees the light turn yellow and they're still a block away from the intersection they turn on the jetburners and cross the intersection just as the light goes from yellow to red. I've seen cars get banged up at that intersection. One person died this summer. Police sit near the intersection but not often enough. Next time you get a ticket from these so-called "speed traps" remember you're still alive and just as important you didn't hit anyone.
