Marcos Ortiz Blog: Hey Ump, I got hit.

So what was Derek Jeter suppose to do when he was awarded first base by the umpire last night.  If you missed it, it appeared he got hit by the pitcher. The umpire gave him the base.  But replays showed the ball hit the bat first then hit his forearm.  Now, what would you do as a hitter.  Would you tell the ump: 'Hey I don't think I should take first base, the ball hit the bat first. I'll bat again."  Sure.  As Jeter said after wards: "It's my job to get on base."  He did and I'm sure 99.99% of the ballplayers would have done the same thing.
