This weekend, I was put on the Bieber beat. I have to admit, I’m usually not a huge fan of the 18 year-old pop singer, but after his visit to Salt Lake City-- I am now.

On Friday, we started getting word that there was an online campaign to get Bieber to stop at Primary Children’s Medical Center before his concert to visit a special seven year-old fan.

Millie Flamm couldn’t make it to the concert because she is undergoing her second bone marrow transplant. The little girl has been battling Leukemia for nearly half her life. She finds joy in Justin Bieber’s music.

Several media outlets, including ABC 4, aired stories about Millie. It was her family’s only way to reach Bieber’s people. By Saturday night, no one knew if he’d show up. Sure enough, he got the message and even delayed his concert to meet Millie.

A spokesperson for the family told me Bieber gave Millie a kiss on the cheek and sang to her. When he left, Millie’s parents dropped to their knees in tears. Finally, their little girl suffering extraordinary circumstances, got to experience something extraordinarily good.

I think “Bieber Fever” is taking on a whole new meaning for me. It’s contagious and I hope his goodwill continues to touch many more like Millie.
