Watching yesterday’s rivalry game between Utah & BYU made me think of the many rivalry games I’ve either covered or been to as a fan. In college football, I’ve been to a zillion University of Georgia games. UGA vs. Auburn was wild ‘tween the hedges or Down on the Plains.

UGA vs. Ga Tech is always spirited. Clemson & Georgia had a nice series going for years. But, you can’t beat UGA & Florida, the "World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party."

Others, UGA & South Carolina & South Carolina & Clemson, Marshall & West Virginia, Texas vs. Texas A&M.

In the NFL, the Falcons had a great rivalry with the 49ers for years when the two teams were in the NFC West. The Birds still duke it out with the Saints every year. Yes, I remember Big Ben Right featuring Steve Bartkowski hitting Alfred Jackson with a “Hail Mary” pass to beat the Saints in 1978.

In college hoops, I’ve covered some great games between Kentucky & Louisville, Indiana & Kentucky, North Carolina & NC State, North Carolina & Duke.

I know I’m leaving out a few others but that’s an impressive list.

Ohh yah, Braves and Dodgers when the two were in the National League West.
