We came, we saw, we conquered! The ABC4 bobsled team, made up of your favorite morning anchor team, hit the bobsled run at the Olympic Park in Park City last Friday. I can honestly say I've never experienced anything like it.

Since I was a little boy I've been fascinated with the bobsled. It's a sled going 80mph+ down a tube of ice I mean what's not to like! What's cool about the Park City run is they allow you to start right at the top of the run just like the Olympians.

I have to admit, I was very excited and really looking forward to the run. Yet now that I'm a little older you realize things can go wrong and screaming down a tube of ice in what amounts to a fiberglass tube with blades on it, isn't a situation in which you'd want something to go wrong.

Thankfully we had an Olympic silver medalist piloting our sled. Into the first turn I thought, "this isn't so bad." On to the second turn and again I'm thinking, "is this all there is?!" Then we're off to the 3rd of 15 turns and we were cruising. The instructors were right, don't let your head drop because you may not be able to get it back up! The force around the turns is incredible, they said 5gs of force. Keeping in mind, there are no seatbelts in the sled.

That was the tough part. You have to wedge yourself into the sled, shrug your shoulders to keep you head from bouncing or "bobbing" around and clench your body as tightly as you can. They key is to not really move while pulling 5gs at 80 mph! It's the most incredible, undescrible 53 seconds I've ever experienced in my life. I must say, I was ready for it to be over when we hit the end. Having said that, I'd gladly do it again if given the opportunity.

You can do it too, it's a little pricey but if you have the money I think a bobsled run is totally worth the price. I've posted some pictures on my Facebook page and don't forget to follow me on Twitter.
