We had a visitor in our home last week,
Flat Stanley. Flat Stanley was sent to us by one of my son's friends from Florida. Our job was to take Flat Stanley around Salt Lake City and show him the sights and share with students in Florida what makes Salt Lake City and Utah special.
We blew it out with Flat Stanley. I brought him in to the studio one day, my son took him to school, my youngest son wanted to take Flat Stanley to the Museum of Ancient Life in Lehi. It doesn't take long to find a lot to do around here. Flat Stanley made it to the State Capitol, Temple Square and even outside Energy Solutions Arena among other local sights. By the way, judging by his new sweatshirt, I think Flat Stanley is now a Jazz fan!
I'd heard of Flat Stanley before but I never realized how much fun and how educational it could be for our family. I'm not sure who enjoyed it most, me and my wife or our boys.
Part of our job was to put together a scrapbook with pictures and facts from Flat Stanley's adventure. My boys LOVED taking pictures with Flat Stanley and at every stop we had the opportunity to teach them about something unique to our area.
Flat Stanley is on his way to Florida this morning. I can't wait for those Florida students to see what makes Utah so special. I've posted a full album of pictures on my
Facebook page. Don't forget to follow me on
Twitter too, I try to post regular weather updates there along with other tidbits of information I find interesting over the course of the day.
Thanks for reading.
