"Girbaud", "Citizens", "Flat bottom Mek", "Calvin Klein", "Levi 501s". Those were some of the answers I got when I asked co-workers and Facebook friends about their favorite pair of jeans. So, why did I even ask?  Well, yesterday was National Denim Day.

What was also amazing is how quickly every female co-worker (and one male co-worker answered). Nicea spouted out "Girbaud". Reagan said "Citizens" and then went into a story about how she has worn them "700 times" and how much her husband "loves" them. Brian was quick on the draw too. He said, "Lucky jeans, but not the pair I have on right now - another pair I have are better - I just love how they fit."

On Facebook Carol wrote about saving up $50 for a pair of Kalvin Clein jeans - even said they "had magic." Krissann said "Marithe and Francois Girbaud Jeans." She wrote about their demise - but didn't mention any magic. And Amy wins the award for getting the most out of a pair of jeans. She wrote, "Levi 501's. Wore them through high school, all through college, and my husband asked me to stop wearing them about 8 years ago-the holes got toooo big."

OK. I have three pair of jeans. One for working in the yard - they're old and stained. A dark pair of Levi 501 Button Fly Jeans and a light pair of Levi 501 Button Fly Jeans. My favorite was a pair of Levi 501s that were so soft, fit perfectly and had a rip in one knee. I loved em - felt cool in them. They worked with all kinds of shoes and shirts. When they ripped down the inseam I had to "retire" them. Is it wrong to have a funeral for jeans? Despite buying the same size and brand - nothing has come close.
