I can't wait to make another trip to the Las Vegas Bowl. This will be the 4th time for me at this bowl game, but my first with the Utes. I got to see BYU beat the likes of Oregon and UCLA, but this will be by far the most interesting matchup I've witnessed.
Boise State should be playing in a BCS bowl game. If Kyle Brotzman connects on a chip shot against Nevada, the Broncos are in the Rose Bowl. I'm glad he missed, though. Otherwise, we could be watching Utah take on Southern Mississippi or some other irrelevant team like that.
This way, we get to watch Utah be a decided underdog with no chance whatsoever against a supposedly much better team. Sound familiar? Ask Nick Saban if he'll ever underestimate the Utes again.
Boise should kick Utah around all over Sam Boyd Stadium December 22nd. The Broncos have the better skill position players, the better defense and the bigger chip on their shoulders. They're going to come out and try to prove that they should be in the Sugar Bowl, not Arkansas.
That's just what the Utes want them to think. If there's one thing I've learned over the years, it's never ever count out Kyle Whittingham when he has time to get ready. Whittingham is 16-2 when he's had more than one week to prepare for a game.
The Jordan Wynn injury may have been a shock at first, but Whittingham and his staff will have had three weeks to get a game plan ready with Terrance Cain behind center. I'm not saying beating Boise State would be as shocking as beating Alabama, but the probability of it happening is just as likely.
Viva Las Vegas.
