The orange barrel polka in Northern Utah County on Highway 92 -- now dubbed "Timpanogos Highway" -- is beyond a joke.
The project was supposed to have been done over a year ago. UDOT blames the contractor, Flatiron Construction.
Fine, but the road still isn't finished.
Every day, at least twice a day, I drive the entire length of the "still under construction" roadway with my neighbors. Yet I see no big push to get it done.
Work is sparse to non-existent, but the barrels and barricades remain in abundance.
Why on earth is this highway from Highland to I-15 still a 45 mph "work zone" where "fines are doubled?"
Oh.
What a minute, I'm starting to put "two and two" together ...
Yes.
I also see a lot of Lehi cops doing radar traps on Highway 92. A couple years ago, there were rarely around. Now, I see them on traffic stops at least a half dozen times a week.
It's revenue enhancement!
Fantastic. Good for Lehi. I know growing pains can put a strain on the old city budget.
I am sure my friends in Alpine, Highland and Cedar Hills are all too happy to donate.
BTW: No, I have NOT gotten a ticket from Lehi's finest. Yet.
