Mormon do not preach to hate your neighbors or anyone that does not think or pray the same way you do. They believe that you are responsible for your own soul and should do that which you think you have intrepreted from your testimony and your reading of whatever religious writings you have read. If you lack wisdom and knowledge, ask with a sincere heart and "God" wilol manifest it onto you.

utahan-I think that you are sadly mistaken and mis informed if you for one minute do not consider Mormons, Christians. The name of the church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. If the name does not mean anything to you, then it is quite obivious that you lack the intelligence to make any determination as to who is or is not a "Christian".

Comparing Mormonism to Islam is comparing apples to locomotives. When & if Mormons start cutting off peoples heads, blowing themselves up to kill others and flying plane loads of people into buildings...then I will start to worry about Mormons.

It is true that Mormons are not Christians. Reading an explanation of Mormonism on beliefnet.com, Mormonism sounds more like Roman Catholicism, except for the part about Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. Our current President has made statements about his faith that leave much to doubt. He subscribes to the "Jesus is my God, who is yours?" form of false Christianity. To him God has many names and many manifestations. Mitt Romney would be one more non-Christian among many non-Christian Presidents. His administration could not be more hostile to Christians and Jews than the current one.

According to individuals like Land, the country has already had several in not many non-Christian Presidents. This is because Evangelicals tend to limit the definition of "Christian" to those who believe in a "born again" experience, such as is had in Evangelical Bible study camps and altar calls. Most of our past Presidents if they came from a mainline Protestant denomination did not hold this particular view of getting "saved". I guess Land would not have voted for George Washington who was s deist by most accounts, or Thomas Jefferson who had the temerity to come up with his own edited version of the New Testament. How about Abraham Lincoln who reportedly joined his grieving wife in seances? The idea that America has only been led primarily by Presidents who fit Mr. Land's definition of Christianity is obviously mistaken. If Mr. Land loathes the Mormons, he must certainly loathe the Masons, and it is not even a matter of speculation that we have had several Presidents including the first one who belonged to that non-Christian, secretive organization.

you are a good news anchor brent. i dont know your relgious affliation. i would like to say one, mormons are not nor ever have been christians. two, mitt has no chance to defeat obama. third, islam endows many good and virtuous tenets. just as in many cases, the slim minority of fanatics give islam a black eye. who can come in the name of God with murder as a modus vivandi? noone in my estimation. bye

If commentators such as Hunsaker would simply say Mormons’ theology is based on New Testament Christianity, not Fourth Century Creeds, they could clarify a lot of confusion is folks' minds. For example, the Church of Jesus Christ (LDS) views on Baptism, Lay Ministry, the Trinity, Theosis, Grace vs. Works, the Divinity of Jesus Christ comport more closely with Early Christianity than any other denomination. And Mormons’ teenagers have been judged to “top the charts” in Christian Characteristics by a UNC-Chapel Hill study. Read about it here: http://MormonsAreChristian.blogspot.com According to a 2012 Pew Forum poll of members of the Church of Jesus Christ (LDS) 98 percent said they believe in the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, and 97 percent say their church is a Christian religion. Mormons have a better understanding of Christianity than any other denomination, according to a 2010 Pew Forum poll: http://www.pewforum.org/Other-Beliefs-and-Practices/U-S-Religious-Knowledge-Survey.aspx 11 of the signers of the Declaration of Independence (including several presidents) were non-Trinitarian Christians. Those who now insist on their narrow Trinitarian and salvation-only- by-grace definition of Christianity for candidates for public office are doing our Republic an injustice. Are citizens now more bigoted than the voters of the 13 colonies?
