I am told that prison changes you. Lots of time to think. Reorder priorities.

So when Warren Jeffs sent out his latest "revelation" talking about women's rights, I wondered, is Warren a changed man?

The passage is short, but it stopped me in my tracks:

"Let women be free, to be educated, to have full law protection from abuse, ye nations." (Verse 9 of the revelation of Sunday, May 13, 2012 at the State Prison in Palestine, Texas.)

All right! Warren is joining the 21st century!!

Now, lets see, if his followers listen to the voice of the man they still call a prophet (I'm just thinking out loud here) that means no more child brides!

No more more yanking girls out of elementary school and putting a wedding dress on them.

According to Warren, young girls will be encouraged to go back to school, get their high school diplomas and then, what? Go to college? Become doctors, lawyers, scientists? Be all that they can be?

How striking that a man convicted in Texas of molesting little girls is now calling on nations to protect little girls -- all women actually. "Full law protection." Yup. That's what he said.

Can I get an "Amen?"

We shall see how faithful his followers are.

We'll watch for an increase in reports of abuse from FLDS women wanting to avail themselves of that "full law protection."

We'll also watch for public schools to reopen in the FLDS community.  And we'll watch the enrollment at the Colorado City campus of Mohave Community College. I so look forward to seeing the classes swell with faithful FLDS women.

It will be wonderful.

Way to go, Warren! You're finally on the right track!

That's nice for him. He still needs to rot in jail though, and it would be nice to have him taken off that "protected" custody, so he can experience the hell he put those girls through first hand. After a few hundred shower rapes, this statement may actually be heartfelt.
